In a bid to explore the affinity some men (and as it turns out women as well) have with their real life mannequin sex dolls, photographer Benita Marcussen set about documenting various users experiences and why and how they came to have such deep bonds that most of us would find squeamish and alienating. Which is to suggest the existence of such sex dolls goes beyond the desire for physicality but also addresses a desire for companionship and a closer connection to the greater world, even a skewed make believe one…

Have you bought the Japanese sex doll, Dutch Wives yet? Comes with realistic feeling skin

Fetishes: Have you tried wearing a female doll mask yet?

Davecat shuns organic women to marry synthetic doll. Keeps another as a mistress…

After getting to know her subject matters and gaining their trust via online forums over the course of a year theCopenhagen-based photographer set about capturing an intimate expose of these men's secret world. The body of work would lead to a photo series aptly titled: 'Men & Dolls.'

Explains the UK's mirror: The realistic silicone love dolls – many of which have interchangeable faces to reflect different 'moods' – sell for more than £1,000, and in some cases have retailed at more than £33,000 ($51 600 USD)

Asks Benita Marcussen of her subjects: 'Are you not afraid?'

Perhaps the better question may have been: 'Weren't you afraid if you hadn't taken the plunge?'

In setting about documenting her photo expose the photographer told via the UK's dailymail: 'Besides being initially curious to see how well engineered these dolls are, I am hoping the story will move some of the prejudices I was met with at the beginning of the project.'

In photographing her expose, Marcussen tells how she met a string of doll owners – some married, some divorced and one an elderly man who lived with his parents. For some of the owners, the life-sized dolls are their sole companion, others are married with children.

Offering: 'All men have different stories and reasons for owning and living with dolls. They cannot be categorised together even though all of them agree that dolls ease the pain of loneliness.'

One doll owner, 'Deerman' would tell how he came to adopt sex dolls after losing his wife to cancer and struggling to meet another partner, which soon led to the man buying a doll that looked like his wife whom he called 'Erica.'

Notes vocativ: Worldwide the "real doll" community is growing fast. At DollForum.com, aspiring and active owners can share their experiences with the 41,000 users who love these artificial ladies. There, they can speak freely and share pictures of their dolls without being judged. There are also a virtual marketplaces where dolls old and new are bought and sold, as well as offline meetings where owners can show off their dolls.

The silicone dolls themselves take 80 hours to produce at manufacturers Abyss Creation in California, which sells the life-like silicon models worldwide.

Speaking about Hot Sexy Dolls is nothing to be Embarrassed About

Our Sex Dolls Are Named After Beautiful Flowers

Abyss allows buyers to customize dolls, selecting body type, hair color, cup size, ethnicity and nail and lip coloring. The only thing limiting owners from there on is the range of experiences they can seek to devise and replicate with new found friends and lovers that may not have existed until now.

Phil stopped smoking for a year to be able to afford his doll Jessica, and his friends all know of her existence. He says he is under no illusions that she is a doll, and not a real woman, but does not care what anyone thinks about his choice of lifestyle

Sam has had Paula for years, and although his wife is accepting of the doll, he keeps her out of their house and daily lives so their children who still live at home do not find out about her. The bands around the doll's wrists are protecting them as they are very fragile and are starting to come loose

Everard, pictured in his garden with his doll Anouska, has collected dolls for years and prefers silicone models instead of the softer versions, known as 'teddy-babes'. His haul of 12 dolls includes figures made in the US, Russia and Asia dolls. He has eight bodies, but four extra faces, enabling him to create new dolls

Bianca with actor Ryan Gosling in the film, which told the story of a young man, played by Gosling, who developed a romantic relationship with a love doll

It is not just men who find companionship with the lifelike mannequins. Angela, pictured with Anna, bought her first doll in 2014 and owns two faces for the model so she can change her look and personality

Kharn (right) does not have a sexual relationship with Alektra and does not see her as a girlfriend, but solely as a doll who he likes to photograph but who will never be able to replace a real woman. He is still hoping to meet the love of his life.

Divorce would lead to one man unable to find love ever again and turning to surrogates…

Moving the dolls around the house can cause back pain if they are not lifted correctly, and because the dolls are so fragile their PVC or metal skeleton can push through the silicone skin if they are dropped or damaged. Pictured is Everard with his doll Faina

The silicone dolls, such as Courtney (pictured) can be very fragile and often get small injuries, such as this cracking around the doll's mouth. Often owners can send them back to the factory to be repaired.

The ultimate sex toy gift guide

The ultimate sex toy gift guide

Santa Claus is coming to town. Literally.

Report Advertisement

Traditionally, giving someone a sex toy as a gift has always been perceived as either a) a wildly inappropriate move, or b) a not-so-subtle hint that the recipient needs to spice up their sex life. But it’s 2014, you guys. CVS is selling vibrators and your grandma is reading Fifty Shades; the taboos are gone. It’s time we started considering sex toys an appropriate gift for the holidays, provided you’re not shopping for your boss or your mother-in-law. After all, what’s better than a gift that keeps on giving, i.e. a mechanically induced orgasm?

Whether you’ve been naughty or nice, these sex toys make a great stocking stuffer (pun intended.) In the spirit of sex-positivity, the Daily Dot has assembled a roundup of the year’s best sex toys, from vibrators to to couples’ toys to male masturbation sleeves. Just two words of caution: 1) When it comes to sex toys, sharing isn’t caring, so never put these in the “regift” pile, and 2) Some of these babies are pretty powerful, so if you give one of these to a friend, don’t be surprised if you don’t see them until the New Year.
For couples
We-Vibe 4 Plus

We-Vibe

Report Advertisement
Fact: 93 percent of women cannot come from penetration alone during sex. Wanna change that, ladies? Try the We-Vibe, a curved couples’ vibe that fits snugly in your vagina, stimulating your G-spot and your clitoris at the same time. It’s fairly unobtrusive, so it’ll stimulate your clitoris during sex while simultaneously stimulating your partner’s penis with gentle, subtle vibrations. (True story: I tried it with my boyfriend, and he said that while he barely felt the vibrations, he enjoyed the We-Vibe because it made for a snugger fit than usual. Which didn’t make me feel super great, but is a plus in We-Vibe’s corner, I suppose.)

The We-Vibe can also be controlled via remote app, so if your partner is on a business trip and you’re riding the We-Vibe solo, he can control both the G-spot and the clitoral stimulators by choosing one of a series of vibrational patterns, including “Wave,” “Cha-Cha-Cha,” and my personal favorite, “Pulse.”

Price: $179
Eva

Report Advertisement

Much like the We-Vibe, the Eva is a hands-free vibrator that can be worn during penetrative sex to stimulate the clitoris. But unlike the We-Vibe, the Eva doesn’t go in your vagina itself; rather, it tucks under your labia majora, so it stays in place and stimulates your clit while failing to obstruct penetration. The Eva is USB-rechargeable, and you don’t have to cycle through multiple patterns or levels—there’s only one button, so all you have to do to get off is turn it on.

Available for pre-order for $105
OhMiBod Blue Motion Massager

OhMiBod

Report Advertisement

Created by husband-and-wife duo Suki and Brian Dunham, OhMiBod’s Blue Motion massager is a slim, Bluetooth-enabled wearable vibrator that can be worn inside your panties; it looks like a bit like a sleek, connected Maxipad. The Bluemotion is controlled remotely via app, so your partner can control the rhythm of vibrations by cycling through a set number of patterns. There’s also a voice control setting, so if your partner can comfortably hit the low notes in “Ol’ Man River,” you should definitely try it out.

Price: $129

Toys for boys
Pulse by Hot Octopus

Pulse is a male vibrator, or “guybrator,” that functions as a sex toy for both men and couples. Essentially, it’s a sheath that can be worn solo or during sex that delivers powerful oscillations, rather than vibrations, to stimulate the frenulum, or the small tissue underneath the glans of the penis. Hot Octopuss founder Adam Lewis told the Daily Dotearlier this year that he created the Pulse after realizing there was a lack of male vibrators on the market delivering frenulum stimulation, rather than “the age-old up-and-down motion that’s proven successful for millennia.”

Price: $99

Autoblow 2

AutoBlow 2
No end-of-year sex toy list would be complete without the Autoblow 2, the automated blowjob machine/miniature R2D2 lookalike that went viral earlier this year. The oral sex stimulation features three different custom sleeves for smaller penises, average-sized penises, and more well-endowed gentlemen. While we’ve heard mixed things about the Autoblow 2 itself—one person I spoke with who tried it out said that it tore his frenulum—the machine is the first successfully crowdfunded male pleasure product of all time, blowing (pun intended) well past its $45,000 fundraising goal, so there must be at least a few happy customers.

Price: $159

Vibrators
Iroha Mini Vibe

Babeland
Looking for something discreet on a budget? Try the Iroha Mini Vibe, a small, compact, Easter-egg-colored vibrator that fits neatly into the palm of your hand. Sure, it doesn’t have the bells and whistles as some of the other toys on this list do, but its low price and the fact that you can sneak it into your purse on a flight without raising any TSA agent’s eyebrows is definitely a plus.

Price: $25
My First Rabbit Vibe

Simple. Classic. Elegant. Well, maybe not so much that last one, but if you’re shopping for a starter sex toy, and discretion is not so much of a priority for you, the Rabbit is always a tried-and-true classic. (Plus, who doesn’t love those adorable little ears?)

Price: $39
Crave Vesper

Crave

On the other hand, if you’re looking for something that screams “sex toy” a little less than a giant neon vibrating dildo, try Crave’s Vesper, a sleek, stainless steel pendant that doubles as a whisper-quiet clitoral vibrator. The USB-rechargeable Vesper looks more like a nail than a sex toy, but it’s still extremely powerful: It has four different speeds, including low, medium, high, and “pulsing.”

Price: $69
Revel Body Sonic Vibrator

Revel Body

So OK, it looks a little bit like a webcam-meets-WALL*EE, but the Revel Body Sonic Vibrator is actually made of pretty powerful stuff. Unlike most vibrators, the Revel Body relies on sonic motor technology, meaning it produces high-performance pulsing vibrations. (It’s a similar type of tech to the kind you’d find in a vibrating toothbrush.) Unfortunately, while the Revel Body looks relatively discreet, it’s actually pretty loud, so make sure the kids are out of the house when you turn it on for the first time.

Price: $139
Jimmy Jane Form 6

If you look on any sex toy review website throughout the web, the Jimmy Jane Form 6 is bound to make repeat appearances; next to the Hitachi Magic Wand, it’s one of the most beloved toys on the market. Though conventionally phallic in shape, the Form 4 is unique in its softness and flexibility, adapting to the shape of your vagina. The Form 4 is also renowned for its deep, rumbling vibrations, and the Jimmy Jane website touts it as the “Barry White of vibrators.”

Price: $175

LGBT Couples
Ambrosia Vibe

Orgasmatronics

If you're finding the toys on this list a little, shall we say, heteronormative, here’s the Ambrosia Vibe, a strap-on that’s being marketed as “the world’s first bionic dildo.” Created by a physics PhD who goes by the name Dr. X, the Ambrosia Vibe senses when pressure is being applied to it, so if your partner sucks or strokes on it, the toy will deliver corresponding vibrations on the dildo’s base, so the wearer will feel it on the other end. (The smart vibrator the Hum, which is currently crowdfunding on Indiegogo, operates via similar principles.) It’s a great toy for same-sex couples or those interested in pegging, as well as curious, kinky ladies who’ve just always wondered what it feels like to have a penis.

Available for preorder for $149

Transformer

Created by PicoBong (a subsidiary of high-end Swedish sex toy brand Lelo), the Transformer is an all-inclusive sex toy that can be used by anyone of any gender or sexual orientation: According to the product website, it’s a “rabbit vibe, a clitoral massager, a cock-ring, a G-spot stimulator, a prostate massager” all in one, “perfect for her, him, her & him, him & him, her & her, and every other combination possible.” Essentially, it’s a slim but flexible piece of silicon with two vibrating ends that can be contorted to the user’s purpose.

Price: $129

Sex dolls have been around for centuries, but then only a few of us have the courage to talk about them. So it took generations for people to openly discuss about using these sex dolls as the subject was always associated with discomfort, misconceptions, stereo types, and shame. However, that is long over now, and we can find guys who can carry on discussions on the subject without any hint of embarrassment.

Sex Toys & the City

Sex Toys & the City:

What luck, what joy--as I was walking past the Pleasure Chest in Greenwich Village yesterday I ran smack into them: Sex and the City tourists clamoring off a giant bus and hustling into the sex shop! I've been hoping for such an opportunity. I joined their pack and was welcomed by the sex-shop hostess, "Come on in, Honey, where ya from?" Um, Ohio?

Celebrating the "Sex and the City legacy" and "honoring this groundbreaking movie," the Pleasure Chest was done up special in frothy pink. Pink edible panties, pink feather boas, pink penis pinatas (kind of disturbing to think about that one). And you get 25% off all of it with a ticket stub from the movie.

The girls and their moms giggled and jostled their way around the shop, snapping pictures and delicately handling the dicey merchandise. Vibrators clicked on, glowing and humming in the hands of the Midwesterners. I wondered, What was each gal's signature vibe? The Pleasure Chest had 4 "City Girl Favorites" to choose from:

The Charlotte: "every girl's best friend"
The Miranda: "suitable for any power-loving woman"
The Samantha: "ultra stylish stainless steel butt plug"
and The Carrie: "the Manolo Blahnik of sex toys" (!)

I wish you'd been there with me when the salesguy informed the crowd that the wooden paint-stirrers repurposed as spankers ("Spank Someone Happy") in the glass jar were free. "Free?!" the tourists screeched, and I was shoved out of the way by a mob of grabbing gals (and guys) all giddy with thoughts of spanking each other silly back in their rooms at the Amerisuites Hotel Secaucus later that night.

As I snapped pics of the SATC consumer orgy, sneering with glee at the cartoonish scene, I began to have strange feelings. Like the Grinch whose heart grew three sizes, I was seized by a moment of compassion when something sparkly caught my eye. It was a small gold crucifix hanging around the neck of a middle-aged, conservative mom. Her daughter, in adult-sized sailor dress, wore the same cross. I looked around. There were crosses everywhere. And then I realized: The Christians are shopping for butt plugs and vibrating eggs!

I love hating SATC too much to stop hating it, but there might be one good thing to come from it if, in the tightly wrapped heart of the American heartland, more Christian women are having orgasms and more Christian men are discovering their own assholes.

a midwestern mom peruses the naughty greeting cards

This epiphany came on the same day when a few too many Park Slope moms were "shocked" by the local opening of Babeland, a queer-feminist-run sex shop that promises those moms no sex toys in the windows, so as not to "make anyone uncomfortable."

While many Park Slope moms seem to feel okay about Babeland, to those who are freaking out I'd say, "Stop being so suburban." But after my experience in the Pleasure Chest, I might have to change my tune. As the city becomes a suburban land of Joneses, will the suburbs become the new cities?

Sex dolls Popular With Men: Sex dolls are a new type of sex toys. Although it has been around since the 17th century it is only during the 20thcentury that it started gaining popularity. These dolls are manufactured in the shape that could resemble the features, quality and appearance of someone that you could possibly masturbate with. They may be made up of an entire body with accessories such as vagina, anus, and mouth for sexual arousal. Some parts and accessories may be removable, interchangeable, and vibrating.

2016 Holiday Gift Guide for Sexy Seniors

Naked at Our Age - Joan Price - Sex & Aging Views & News: 2016 Holiday Gift Guide for Sexy Seniors: Gift Guide for Sexy Seniors

Whether you're looking for a special gift for a loved one, for the two (or more) of you, or for your own private pleasure, here are some recommendations to put a sexy, satisfied smile on your or your giftee's face.

If you think your gift won't arrive in time, blame it on me for getting this Gift Guide out so late. Write a note about your intentions and welcome in the New Year when it arrives. (Or email me and I'll hand write the note for you, scan it, and email it back to you.)

Best of 2016

Two of our favorites have new updates:

The Pulse III for penis pleasure has arrived from Hot Octopuss, and it's better than ever. Now you can go from any level straight to "Turbo Mode." An anti-stall sensor prevents any pressure from interfering with the vibrations. The Duo partner's experience has been improved. And now it charges magnetically. Every penis owner that I know who has tried any version of the Pulse has loved it, especially because no erection is required. I appreciate that as good as it is, Hot Octopuss keeps improving this penis pleaser. Read this review of the Pulse I and II and this one of the Pulse Solo and Duo II from our contest winners. Order the new one here.

Do you own a Sybian? If you do, check out these two new silicone attachments to ride into orgasm: Triple Delight has soft clitoral and anal stimulating bumps at either end of a penetrative G-spotter. (Yes, you can have it all.) The Silky Smooth Flat Top is for you if you prefer your vibrations without penetration -- use it in either direction and put the bump wherever you want it. If you're unfamiliar with the glorious Sybian, read my review here (notice the discount code!) and learn about other silicone attachments here.

Rumble

Here are some special sex toys that I reviewed in 2016, with quotes from these reviews and links to the full reviews:

Rumble. "Do you want a vibrator that's well-designed, well-made, body-safe, and fairly strong -- with a truly ergonomic shape, size, and weight? A solution if you have wrist arthritis or any condition that makes it difficult to grip or hold up a wand vibrator for as long as it takes to get the job done."

Doxie Die Cast

Doxie Die Cast. "Strong as in lie-back-and-it'll-happen strong, even if your orgasms usually take a lot of effort. If you like a high intensity clitoral vibrator, this power tool will sing to you in great, rumbly, throbby tones."

Prism V

L'Amourose Prism V. "A curvaceous work of art that happens to be a deep, strong, and rumbly g-spot vibrator. The shape and faceted design are lovely, and it's easy to hold."

Womanizer

Womanizer W500. "It's the suction. It doesn't just vibrate (though it does do that) -- it gently pulls on the clitoris, bringing blood flow, engorgement, and increased sensation. It's not 'sucking' like a vacuum -- it's subtle, but oh so effective and pleasurable."

New Kids in Town

Here are couple of new products that might strike your fancy. I haven't written full reviews of these, but they deserve mention here:

Funkit. (Yes, that's an "n," not a "c," though the logo with the "n" on its side makes you look twice.) This beautiful silicone dildo aims to please, whether you use it vaginally or anally. The end is a suction cup, so you have even more options for play. Check out Funkit's website for many more dildo designs that show you that sex and art can be a lovely couple. They also make butt plugs, spanking paddles, and textured rings for your pleasure-giving finger.

O-Wand. Big and heavy -- 1.6 pounds and 13 inches long -- this elegant, powerful, silicone vibrator is curved with an ergonomic handle so you can hold it in different ways and even rest it on your body. It comes in a huge (17"), fancy box, includes a nubby cap accessory and a set of charger adapters for different countries. There's no pouch, though, which is strange considering its high price. It's completely waterproof, so you can take it in the tub with you. (I recommend not taking it in the shower, because if you drop 1.6 pounds on your foot, it could be serious.) Get 15% off with the discount code "BETTER15" -- just for our readers.

Stocking Stuffers

Überlube: When you want to feel a gliding sensation of skin on skin, this luxurious silicone lubricant delivers. Long-lasting for our slow-burning older bodies, slick for our delicate tissues, and a clear favorite of mine. Available in an elegant glass bottle or a refillable travel case.

Wicked: Want to smell and taste like a candy apple, cinnamon bun, or salted caramel? Wicked has a delightful collection of flavored lubricants, most of then water-based. Buy them at SheVibe,

Lucky Bloke: For the best selection of condoms, Lucky Bloke has you covered -- so to speak. Take their simple test to make sure you're wearing the right size condom, then order some sampler kits and try different brands. Lucky Bloke also offers lubricant samplers.

And for that Big Sex Organ Between Your Ears...

Of course it would make me very happy if you got your giftee or yourself one of my senior sex books -- the gifts that keep on giving. A good choice for a holiday gift is Ageless Erotica, a ground-breaking anthology by talented writers over 50 featuring steamy, sexy characters over 50 (sometimes decades over 50). Ageless Erotica presents sexy seniors enjoying and sharing their erotic moments in short stories and memoir essays . And while you're looking at my books, how about giving your sweetie or yourself one of my self-help senior sex books for the new year?

XXX - A Peek At A Sex Doll Factory

The photos were taken for a film called Honey Pie, directed by Zackary Canepari and Drea Cooper. It is part of a documentary film series called California Is A Place. As posted in Huffington Post, these are photographs of a sex doll factory in San Marcos, California, that makes customized dolls. The photos are part of photographer Zackary Canepari's project Love Machines, which was shot at a Californian factory in San Marcos called Abyss Creations. Each of the dolls cost around $7,000 and are customised. Eerie to see the female body dismembered, smiling lip glossed lips, made-up twinkling eyes staring into the distance, and testing vaginas in boxes. This proves that for men, it's an instinctual act, the one of sex, the female body (parts) are just a tool. Love has nothing to do with it and neither does flex and blood.
