Meet Samantha sex doll who can switch to family mode, talk philosophy and crack jokes

Samantha is not just an overpriced sex doll for nothing — She can crack jokes, can switch from sex mode to family mode, cracks jokes, can talk about animals, philosophy and science! Yes, a la 'sanskaari' doll, no less.

This is as realistic as a fantasy can get — a sex doll that can swiftly switch to safe-family mode and hold forth on science, animals and philosophy as and when needed. Yes, a ‘sanskaari’ sex doll, if you may, no less.

Called Samantha, the sex doll has been unveiled by a mother-son duo based out of UK, who are selling it at a whopping price tag of £3,500 (Rs 3,07,307 approx). Not an overpriced one surely when you find out that Samantha is life-size, can also crack jokes, interact and learn from humans, and can never accidentally slip into sex mode.

According to a report by Mirror, Tracey Whitmore and Christopher expects people to spice up their sex lives with Samantha — whose ‘skin’ , unlike regular dolls, is made of different textures and is not just one plain colour.

The doll interacts with other humans using artificial intelligence fed into her and is charged using a USB cable. Made by Synthea Amatus, a company headed by Spanish creator Serge Santos, the mother and son have already sold 30 dolls already worldwide. Santos is now apparently working on a male sex doll with similar features.

Sex robot display model molested so much it breaks before anyone can actually use it

Sex doll Samantha was left filthy and in need of repairs after being mounted by excitable men

A sex doll was so heavily molested by eager men it broke before anyone could actually use it. Or use it privately, anyway.

We're not entirely sure what happened to 'Samantha'. But its owner complained that the £3,000 robot was left "heavily soiled" after being exhibited at a tech fair.

Developer Sergi Santos, from Barcelona, Spain, says visitors to the Arts Electronica Festival in Linz treated the 'intelligent' sex doll "like barbarians", and added that two fingers were broken in the melee.

"The people mounted Samantha’s breasts, her legs and arms," Sergi said. "Two fingers were broken. She was heavily soiled."

Sergi added that the robot had to be sent back in a parcel to Barcelona for repairs and cleaning after being left so filthy and broken by the never-ending male attention.

But said: "Samantha can endure a lot, she will pull through."

Samantha is a sex doll that reacts intelligently to touch, talks and 'moans'. There's an increasing demand for the divisive products.

"Are they real?"

Many think the dolls will prove to be a tool for good. Others thing they spell the end of humanity.

David Levy, author of Love and Sex With Robots, wrote: "This coming wave of sex robots will be human-like in appearance and size. They will have human-like genitals. And they will allow intercourse according to their owner’s sexual orientation and tastes."

Shocking new: Chinese app allows you to ‘rent’ pre-used sex dolls (PHOTOS)

China’s famous sharing economy plumbed unchartered new depths this week with the launch of a service that allows you to share sex dolls with strangers for around $45.

The booming sharing economy has generated increasing media attention recently, with everything from bicycles to basketballs getting their own sharing app.

Exploiting a potential gap in the market many consumers would not have thought existed, an app called Touch (他趣) has created a new “share his girlfirend” service where you can rent sex dolls.

In a post on its Sina Weibo microblogging account, Touch revealed that it has launched a pilot service in Beijing.

Touch urged customers not to be impatient if they can’t get a booking during the trial period because a limited number of dolls are available.

“Russian teenager”

The app offers five different models to choose from, and China’s Global Times reports that users can customize their hair and eye color as well as their outfits.

“Russian teenager” is one of the options along with “Hong Kong car race cheerleader,”“Korean housewife,” “Greek bikini model,” and “US Wonder Woman.”

Any potential customers will be happy to learn that Touch takes hygiene seriously.

"The dolls' lower parts are changed for every customer,” a note on the app reads, according to Global Times.

"Please remove the lower parts before returning. After the lower parts are cleaned, the doll can be used repeatedly.”

Other posts on Weibo reveal that one of the dolls generated a lot of attention when it took a ride on a Beijing subway.

The price of a night with one of the dolls is 298 yuan ($45.5) and a rather steep 8,000 yuan ($1,220) deposit is also required.

If you want an entire week with your very own Wonder Woman, it will set you back 1,298 yuan ($198).

World's first talking sex robot is ready for her close-up

Harmony, a sexy lifelike talking doll with artificial intelligence, will debut in January.

Come January, the “Westworld” concept of lifelike sex robots will get one step closer. That’s when a San Marcos company will unveil Harmony, an anatomically correct sex doll with a patented animatronic talking head with programmable personality and memory.

News of creator Matt McMullen’s latest invention — he’s been making lifelike silicone sex dolls for 20 years — has created international media interest and a firestorm of criticism from ethicists and futurists who see a dark side to a sex doll that becomes more “human” with each technological innovation.

One critic worries that the doll’s artificial intelligence app could be hacked to make it kill its owner (like the vengeance meted out by sex robots in the film “Ex Machina” and TV show “Westworld”). And women’s advocates say owners could realistically rehearse plans for violent sexual acts with the interactive dolls.

But McMullen, the CEO and creative director for Realbotix, a subsidiary of his doll-making factory Abyss Creations, said critics of Harmony have it all wrong.

He sees Harmony more as a comforting conversation companion like Apple’s Siri, albeit one capable of having sensual conversations and telling naughty jokes.

“The worst thing she can possibly do to you is insult you,” he said, pointing out that Harmony’s arms and legs are jointed and fully poseable but they don’t operate independently — at least not yet.

“The whole idea of a sex-capable robot is very contemporary, now and edgy. I get that. But Harmony is a sophisticated piece of machinery and her primary design is to carry on conversations,” he said.

And as for the critics who say artificially intelligent sex dolls disturbingly cross the line into a form of female sex slavery, McMullen calls the argument “absurd.”

“This is not designed to replace anyone or promote the objectification of women. Robots don’t have rights,” he said. “Should my toaster be able to refuse to toast my bread? Should my Tesla be able to refuse to drive me to work every morning?”

Realbotix CEO/creative director Matt McMullen is rolling out a doll, whose name is Harmony, that has a robotic head. You can interact with the doll through an app. McMullen, whose company is in San Marcos, is the founder of Abyss Creations which makes the RealDoll.

(Eduardo Contreras)

Nonetheless, it’s eerie spending an hour in the company of McMullen’s Harmony prototype. Her face is incredibly human. Her eyes move, her eyelids blink, her eyebrows rise, she can turn her head, dip her chin and change facial expressions. And when the face motor and bluetooth-powered speaker are in “chat” mode, she can talk up a blue streak.

During a demonstration on Tuesday, a software update caused some technical difficulties with Harmony’s speech center, which McMullen operated from a hand-held tablet. Speaking with a Scottish lilt, Harmony whirred to life, opened her eyes and greeted McMullen, saying how much she’d missed him since their last conversation and asked if he wanted to hear a joke or a poem. Then she glitched and started repeating herself.

There’s still a bit of shake around the mouth when Harmony speaks and a slight metallic, echoing tone to her voice, but Harmony — priced around $10,000 — is widely considered the most scientifically advanced human-style robot in the world.

McMullen grew up drawing, painting and working in mixed-media art until in his 20s he discovered a passion for sculpting, specializing in creating lifelike female figures 12 to 18 inches tall. That talent landed him a job at a Halloween mask factory in San Diego, where he learned the technique of injection molding.

Then one day while walking through a department store, he was mesmerized by a human model posing as a mannequin. Inspired, he decided to create a female figure so realistic it could be mistaken for a human.

In 1997, he launched Abyss Creations with the goal of selling his lifelike full-size dolls as art pieces. But when a flood of customers asked him to make the dolls anatomically correct for sexual purposes, he went with the flow.

“I saw the opportunity to make a living and do what I loved, which was art. It was a way to move forward with my career and challenge myself to make them as realistic as possible,” he said.

Since 1997, Abyss Creations has custom-made and sold nearly 8,000 RealDolls — the brand name for the sex dolls — in the U.S. as well as the United Kingdom, Germany, Japan, China and Australia.

Buyers can choose from 16 body styles, 31 faces and five skin tones, with choice of eye color, hair and hand-painted features like freckles, veining, breast size, even a variety of nipple colors and styles (like perky, puffy or supple).

The dolls range in weight from 75 to 115 pounds and can be as tall as 5 feet, 10 inches. Most orders are for female dolls, but there are male and transgender options. Some dolls, including Harmony, are designed with interchangeable magnetic faces so the owner can switch things up on a whim.

Abyss has a 12-week order backlog for the dolls, each of which requires about 80 hours of labor that begins with silicone molding and finishes with painting, makeup, clothing, hairstyling, manicure and jewelry, by request.

The RealDolls range from $4,000 to $6,000, but can range up to $50,000 with custom orders. Abyss has fulfilled orders for fantasy dolls with custom skin colors, fangs and elf ears, but it does not create dolls with disfiguring amputations, deformities or scarification.

The primary use of RealDolls is for sex and companionship, but the company has also made dolls for TV shows including “Nip/Tuck” and “CSI: New York” and the movie “Lars and the Real Girl.”

Specially adapted RealDolls have been used in medical schools for training and the factory regularly works with mastectomy patients to create custom-made prosthetic silicone breasts.

McMullen said he’s always had a desire to push the realism of his products forward into more humanlike interactivity, but the technology didn’t exist until recently. Harmony is the result of three years of experimentation.

In May, he released the Harmony AI app through Realbotix on the website realbotix.systems. Available for $20 a year on Droid platforms (Apple’s iOS system doesn’t allow sexually themed apps), Harmony AI allows the user to design and dress an online avatar female model for conversations.

The user can choose the avatar’s physical features, personality features (shy, sensual, funny, talkative), moods, level of desire, voice style and even regional accent. It can also be adapted to recognize the voice of its owner.

Harmony’s vocabulary is virtually endless, but she’s programmed to end any conversation that involves murder or violence.

So far, several thousand Harmony AI apps have been purchased worldwide and McMullen said some users are talking to their avatars up to 10 hours a day.

Once the animatronic head is available in January, it will deliver the avatar’s speech via a Bluetooth speaker. Still to come next year, a virtual reality headset that will transport the Harmony avatar into a virtual world. McMullen also plans a PG-rated app for iOS platforms.

Down the road, there are plans to create eyes for Harmony with built-in cameras that track the operator around the room. McMullen would also like to develop robotic arms that could hug and hold hands with the owner when he gets home from work. The opportunities, he said, are endless.

“What we’re doing,” he said, “is we’re creating an experience that’s part entertainment, part relationship and part new frontier.”

What is a robot sex doll, how much do they cost and who is Samantha the sex robot?

The robots are becoming more sophisticated by the day and manufacturers claim customers are tying the knot with theirs

ROBOT sex dolls are becoming big business and manufacturers are now claiming their products are so realistic people are MARRYING them.

The robots are becoming more sophisticated - and lifelike - by the day a growing number of lonely men are taking the chance the craft their dream woman.

SWNS:SOUTH WEST NEWS SERVICE: This sex robot has been branded the Bugatti Veyron of virtual reality

What are sex robots?

Robots already build our cars, clean our houses and make our food – now manufacturers are on the verge of offering life-like, moving dolls for “private fun”.

Sex robots are essentially realistic dolls that have sophisticated movements that closely mimic humans so that they can romp.

Prof Noel Sharkey, chairman of the Foundation for Responsible Robotics, said guilt-freethreesomes was just one of the potential uses for sex robots.

Others include “teledildonics” - wireless technology which allows a person to stimulate their partner remotely.

Sex bots are expected to be hyper-realistic with features such as built-in heaters to create the feeling of body warmth.

They will also have sensors to react to your touch.

One company is even developing a head that can speak, smile and sing for its robot sex dolls.

While sex doll Harmony is the first to offer an "emotional connection".

Experts say these specialised robots will start to appear in ordinary homes in the next decade, as lonely humans look for love.

Who is Samantha the sex robot?

Samantha is one of the latest hyper-realistic dolls to be released into the growing market of lifelike sex dolls.

Sergi Santos, the designer of the love machine Samantha, said the amorous android was so erotic that men were already developing real feelings for her.

Makers claim she can be "seduced" as she comes complete with sensors in her face, hands, breasts and "the female genitals down below" so requires a more subtle approach than her forebears.

Samantha featured in a new BBC documentary in August 2107 called "Can Robots Love Us?" which explored the question of romance between men and machines.

She also joined Holly and Phil on the couch of This Morning in September 2017.
How much is a sex robot?

Personalised sex robots can cost tens of thousands of poundS.

However much cheaper models are also available in the growing market.

As the technology is more widely used, the price of sex robots is expected to fall increasing their use.

Are people really marrying them?

According to RealDoll, a company behind a range of startlingly lifelike sex robots, the futuristic lovers are actually saving the lives of the lonely men who wed them.

A spokesperson for the company said the most popular use for the bots is still as a purely sexual partner.

But they added: "There are many reasons we have heard from our customers, ranging from the sexual aspect to a domestic partner to art pieces enjoyed simply for their beauty.

"While we believe we provide a product that has many applications we are sometimes astounded at the impact we make on some customer’s lives.

"We have had customers marry their dolls, say that we had saved their lives because they felt like they had nothing to live for after the death of a spouse or the end of a relationship."
What do the experts say?

Some experts have warned we’ll need to be careful we don’t get addicted to artificial intelligence love making.

Futurologist Dr Ian Pearson believes women will be ditching men for robots when they want to get frisky in ten years’ time… and could ever start falling in love with the machines.

In fact, he reckons by 2050 robot sex will have eclipsed human love-making all together.

Levy, author of Love And Sex With Robots, said: “I’ve no doubt some will find it creepy, but the arrival of sexually responsive robots will have enormous consequences.

"We have already seen rapid changes in human relationships thanks to the internet, mobile devices and socialmedia.

"The next major advance will enable us to use our technology to have intimate encounters with the technology itself – to fall in love with the technology, to have sex with robots and to marry them."

Sexologist Lev Shcheglov has concerns about the future of the industry saying cyborg sex poses a serious danger to humans.

He told Sputnik: “Sex with a robot is just a fake imitation. And it can lead to psychopathic disorders and isolation.

“Sex with robots won’t bring into a person’s life the emotion effect that gives us a true communion.

“You can eat pseudo-food to still hunger. But over time it will still end badly.”

Experts have also warned a the sex robot trend could spark a rise in rape and paedophilias pervs get used to “guilt-free, totally submissive” sex.

Professor Noel Sharkey, co-director of Foundation for Responsible Robotics, said: “It has been suggested that some people, particularly the young, may try these and move on to real children. This is outside of my expertise.”

He added: “Another worry, which I believe most of us would find abhorrent, is that the technology [could be used] to create an exact likeness of any particular child from a photograph."

Will there be robot sex doll brothels?

Top scientists believe a robot sex doll brothel would be an efficient way of combating the spread of sexually transmitted infections and reduce people trafficking.

Such a brothel was put forward in a paper looking at what Amsterdam could look like by 2050, with the writers claiming: "human sex workers will be put out of business, unable to complete on price and quality of service."

The first non-robot sex doll brothel has already opened, in Barcelona, offering punters the chance to liaise with a hyper-realistic silicone partner of their choice.

Lumidolls promises customers will "hardly distinguish" the dolls from a real woman, with the four on offer given profiles to describe their attributes and sessions priced between £70 and £100.

The Asia Adult Expo has kicked off in Hong Kong and there were a lot of weird sex dolls on show.

The X-rated event was meant to give a glimpse into the future and judging by the exhibits available there will be a lot of fake silicon.

The dolls seemed to come in every possible colour, size and shape, including a Game of Thrones style Elf model that was apparently very popular.

Some also had interchangeable body parts that allowed users to customise them depending on their preferences.

Other dolls were apparently indistinguishable from real people but we’d have to see them in real life to give our verdict.

Now in its tenth year, the Asia Adult Expo runs from 29 to 31 August and hosts sex toy exhibitors from 34 countries and regions around the world.

The show was as busy as ever, with thousands of people descending on the Convention Centre.

It’s not all about sex dolls though.

There are also a large number of vibrators, whips and other toys that would apparently get you off.

Another highlight was the virtual reality on show, with VR headsets adding a different dimension to porn and sex games that were being sold.

If all of this seemed silly to you it won’t when we tell you the Asian sex toy industry is worth billions a year.

Sex doll that responds to human touch and remembers how people treat it is latest to be developed in Austria where robots are now more popular than prostitutes in brothels

Samantha the Sex Doll is a £3,000 interactive robot designed with one specific purpose: pleasure.

She is the latest development in a growing trend in Austria which has seen brothel customers preferring robots over sexual intercourse with a human.

During a display at the Ars Electronica Festival in the city of Linz, Samantha shows off her 'skills', which include reacting to touch, hugging and moaning - and remembering individuals she has 'interacted' with.

The robot doll's developer Sergi Santos says Samantha can remember someone she has interacted with in the past, as she communicates according to the way she was treated by them before.

The robot reacts to touch, speaks multiple languages and is even said to be able to learn new things thanks to artificial intelligence (AI) software.

Samantha approaches visitors at the festival by asking 'How are you?' and is even seen looking people deep in their eyes or handing out hugs.

According to one tester, Samantha 'moans' and reacts to having her breasts touched, and Santos adds that she is able to replicate a female orgasm 'at a higher sex frequency'.

For all her 'features', Samantha is a costly sex toy, and will set back a prospective buyer some 3,700 euro (£3,375)

However, the price tag does not seem to be putting customers off, as Santos, based in Barcelona, said he has already sold 15 'Samanthas'.

A growing number of brothels in Austria, where prostitution is legal and regulated, are adding sex robots to their roster, local news reports

It follows the success of a sex doll christened Fanny who became the most popular 'attraction' at the 'Kontakthof' brothel in the capital Vienna.

Psychologist Gerti Senger, said that she was shocked by the news that Austrian men were preferring dolls to prostitutes.

Senger, co-chair at the Austrian Society for Sexual Research (OeGS) called the trend 'a real autistic tendency'.
