Owner Graham Tempest says his business has grown from a couple a month when it was founded three years ago to more than a 1,000 a year.

The dolls themselves have come a long way from inflatable PVC models sold in side street basements.

These latest dolls are far more realistic, can stand on their own unaided and they can be built to the buyer’s specifications – with a chest size going up to an eye-popping L-cup.

Mr Tempest told Ladbible.com: "Physically, having sex with them is very similar to the real thing.

"The only difference is you don't get as much interaction. It's the midpoint between masturbation and sex."

While the dolls are far more realistic they also come with a price tag to match, with most dolls costing in the region of £2,000.

But the cost clearly does not put of some and Mr Tempest says that while most customers are middle-aged and middle-class he has clients from all social backgrounds and says one was even aged 75.

Mr Tempest also thinks his company is also providing a service for those people who may find it socially awkward interacting with women.

He said: "For whatever reason, they find it particularly difficult to interact with members of the opposite sex - perhaps there has been issues in their childhood, serious issues, I mean - but these men still have desires. In that way, we are helping them. We are offering a life-altering facility.”

Some men have even started collecting the custom-made dolls, with one purchasing nine or ten dolls.

Customers can specify the dolls, that are made in China from rubber and plastic, have particular attributes, such as certain sized breasts and one requested the doll came with three.

Mr Tempest said: "We get a lot of people asking for three breasts.

"It's not something we do at the moment but in the future, perhaps, why not? There's a big thing for blue skin, too - because of the Avatar films."
